Donate to Truckers Final Mile this Holiday Season

Truckers Final Mile

For children who have lost parents who were truck drivers, Truckers Final Mile offers a special and memorable holiday.

Christmas is a time for joy and celebration, and it’s also a time for us to reflect on how we can help others who are in need. The Truckers Final Mile is a charity that helps families who lost a truck-driving parent this year. Here’s more information on the charity’s Sleigh Bells and Santa program.

The Truckers Final Mile Program

Each year, there are over 800 commercial vehicle drivers killed in accidents. And there’s an estimate that over 5,000 people in the transportation industry die each year from collisions, stabbings, shootings, and suicides. The Truckers Final Mile is seeking to raise $50,000, according to its GoFundMe page. This will be the first Christmas for the children without one of their parents, and it will be an emotional and difficult time. The goal of the program is to make the lives of children and families who lost a parent who drove a truck a little easier. The program will also grant wishes to terminally ill children of CDL truck drivers.

The Truckers Final Mile Program: Past & Present

There are 10 children who have been signed up for the program this year, and the money goes towards a variety of supplies and gifts the children need or want. This money will purchase everything from notepads to video games. In 2015, 19 children participated in the program. The Truckers Final Mile was able to raise $865 in 2015. The program collected $365 dollars from public donations and $500 from a corporate donation from Pilot/Flying J. After transaction fees, the program was able to deliver over $834 to the 19 children who were enrolled in the program.

Giving During Christmas

Even if you’re only able to donate a small amount, every bit helps. You do not have to be a previous client of truckersfinalmile.org, and you also do not have to be a CDL holder to donate. The benefits and wish grants will be announced on Dec. 21 in New Mexico.
