Here are tips to help truck drivers address sun glare.
We’re in the middle of spring, with summer not too far away. These are the seasons when we get the most daylight, as a result of daylight savings time. With this extra sunlight, truck drivers have to be more wary about sun glare, as the sun can seriously impact visibility on the road, which can be a big danger. Fortunately, there are ways to address this problem so that you can stay safe while driving. Here are tips to help truck drivers address sun glare.
Clean Your Windshield
When your windshield is dirty, sun glare can be amplified, which only makes it more difficult for you to see where you’re going when you’re driving. That’s why you need to clean your windshield ahead of time. Your wiper blades should also be checked as part of your pre-trip inspection.
Get Clutter Cleared Off of Your Dashboard
Your dashboard can create a lot of distracting reflections if you don’t keep it clean. As such, you’ll want to remove clutter from your dashboard to minimize the amount of sun glare you experience. When cleaning off your dashboard, be careful when selecting the cleaning products that you use. Some cleaning products are high-gloss, and this gloss can actually increase the amount of sun glare that you get.
Use a Sun Visor While Driving
To protect yourself against sun glare, wearing a sun visor is one of the easiest solutions. It will provide a shield that keeps your eyes from too much sunlight exposure. All the while, you’ll still be able to see the road without difficulty.
Put on Polarized Sunglasses
Sun glare can also be reduced when you put on polarized sunglasses. These sunglasses keep the sun’s UV rays out of your eyes so you can focus on driving without straining your eyes. If you have prescription sunglasses, consider looking into anti-glare lenses that give your eyes that extra bit of protection.
